Performers wanted for 2010 World Cup, Durban
Live music, visual and performing arts for eThekwini Municipality Fan Fest, Beach Festival and Public Viewing Areas during 2010 FIFA World Cup
Calling on all the undiscovered talent out there!
This invitation goes out to singers, musicians, bands and performance artists to apply for auditions to be considered to perform live at the Official Fan Fest, Beach Festival and Public Viewing Areas during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. There are several performance slots to be filled on the various stages in these areas. So, this is not just any audition!
This is a golden opportunity for new talent based within the boundaries of the eThekwini Municipality to share their talent with the world!
The process is open to all styles of contemporary original music and includes, but is not limited to: Maskanda/Mbhaqanga; Isicathamiya; Jazz/Afro-Jazz; Afro-Beat; Afro-Pop; Hip-Hop; Reggae; Gospel; Blues; Folk; Country; Kwaito; Heavy Metal; Indian Classical/Contemporary; R&B; and Rock.
And there are slots available for performance artists in all genres! From dancers, mimes, jugglers and balloon artists and clowns. Whatever the style, all new talent can apply to audition!
To qualify as New Talent, musicians must be undiscovered and unrecorded. Artists who are recorded, or who have had their music play listed on radio and/or TV, and have an established following are excluded from this process as they are already in line for performance slots on other areas of the overall program.
Interested performers must complete an application form and return it to Maltre Productions, who will be managing the audition process.
Application forms can be collected from the Music School and Centre for Jazz at UKZN, Durban; the Department of Entertainment Technology at Durban University of Technology; the BAT Centre; The Stables Theatre; Ekhaya Multi Arts Centre; The Playhouse foyer; the Rainbow Restaurant; Burn Nightclub and the Cell C Durban Music School.
Forms can also be picked up at Maltre Productions' offices at Suite 505, Sangro House, 417 Smith Street, Durban or, they can be faxed or emailed to applicants on request.
